Next week, councilors will decide on a kids’ home. The plan involves a house in Gateshead. Thirty people have objected so far.

The council committee meets next Wednesday. They will review the application for a house in Eighton Banks. The house used to be a family home with five bedrooms and cost £500,000. The plan seeks to house three kids needing care and includes building a porch with ramp access.

Councilor Gary Haley sent a letter to locals, stating that kids do well in loving homes. However, some kids can’t live with their families, and he wants to provide stability and care. He wants to keep children in local foster families.

Haley also wrote about local schools and keeping children in their community. He wants the children to keep their friends, explaining that reducing trauma helps them live stable lives. This helps them follow their dreams, which he said is what everyone wants for their kids.

The property will have a team of twelve staff. Nine staff will provide round-the-clock care, working in shifts with three staff caring for kids at a time.

The plans have received thirty objections from twenty-six different addresses. Objections relate to noise, property values, and parking. Police did not object to the plan.

Council officers have advised that the plans should be approved.
