Christopher Wilson, 23, jailed for 16 years for the 2017 gang-related murder of 18-year-old Kacem Mokrane in Walthamstow.

Christopher Wilson, age 23, received his sentence on Thursday, February 27. He will spend at least 16 years in jail. A retrial found him guilty last December.
Kacem was only 18 years old when he died. The murder on November 16, 2017, was gang-related. Wilson is the fifth person convicted; four others were convicted last June.
Police responded to a call that night around 11:15 p.m. The call reported a fight in Walthamstow. People saw armed men with knives and swords. The gang ambushed Kacem and stabbed him before running from the area.
Doctors rushed Kacem to the Royal London Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Sadly, he died on November 20, 2017, suffering organ failure from a stab wound.
Kacem’s family is heartbroken by his death, saying his murder deeply changed their lives. They will never again share a meal with him, and his personality is now only a memory.
The family refuses to forgive Christopher Wilson, citing his lack of remorse and denial. They want him off the streets as long as possible, viewing him as dangerous.
The family appreciates the police’s commitment and the legal team’s hard work. The police were persistent while seeking justice and showed professionalism.
Detective Inspector Ben Dalloway spoke about the case, noting Kacem’s family waited a long time for this. He said Wilson’s sentence should warn others that police will keep seeking justice.
