Construction begins on Rosshill Manor in Galway, adding 102 homes after legal challenges. A creche will be included.

Rosshill Manor includes 35 apartments and 67 houses. The location is a very popular area. This follows a three-year legal issue.
The plans involve a total of 102 homes, including 35 apartments and 67 houses. A creche is also planned, along with commercial units, woodland, and parks.
Rosshill Manor stretches across 11.6 acres. The plan includes demolishing old buildings. Approval came in 2021, but someone appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
The appeal got rejected in October 2021, upholding Galway City Council’s approval. Then a Judicial Review challenged that permission and An Bord Pleanála’s decision.
In September 2024, a judge ruled against the challenge and upheld the planning permission. It confirmed the Board’s original decision.
Also, Galway City Council got another application for apartments near a roundabout. It’s in the city’s western part.
Highcross Developments wants to build 40 apartments at a site by Athy Roundabout. It’s near Clybaun Road and Western Distributor Road in Knocknacarra.
The site has an old house that will be torn down. They plan two apartment buildings, with Block A facing west and Block B facing east.
