He dedicated himself to assisting vulnerable international groups and volunteered extensively in the Galway area. People remember him as a tireless and dedicated worker who deeply cared about his community.

His work with the Gort Palestinian Solidarity Group is particularly noteworthy, with many recalling how he consistently went the extra mile to support the cause both locally and internationally. Stephen Dowds, a retired consultant planner, passed away suddenly on February 22, 2025, at University Hospital Galway. His sudden loss is deeply felt by his family and friends.

Having recently completed his last Camino walk, may he now rest in peace. A viewing will be held at the funeral home this Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. His life will be celebrated at Shannon Crematorium on Thursday, February 27th, at noon, with an option to watch online for those unable to attend in person.
