Storms Eowyn and Darragh caused considerable damage, ruining the farm’s polytunnels and causing the death of many crops inside. Aitor started a GoFundMe campaign to raise €15,000 to fix the damage caused by the storms.
The community responded generously, raising over €13,000 already. Aitor expressed his disbelief and gratitude for everyone’s kindness. He believes that with this support, they can grow again this year.
Aitor started the farm in 2012 with the goal of growing healthy food. The farm has since become a community hub where volunteers come to learn about farming, and people share food and celebrate together.
The Whitworth family joined in 2024 and named it Fréamh Farm while continuing to grow food sustainably. They also attended local markets, aiming to provide fresh, local food for all.
Storm Darragh initially ripped the plastic, which they mended with the help of friends. However, Storm Eowyn struck hard in 2025, damaging the other tunnel and ruining the crops inside.
They are determined to rebuild the farm with stronger structures and continue growing food sustainably. It’s challenging to make a living doing this in Ireland, but the damage is too extensive to fix alone.
They need €15,000 to restore the farm; three thousand will replace the plastic, and twelve thousand will replace a tunnel. Any help makes a big difference, and even sharing helps.
They appreciate all the support that helps Fuinseog and Fréamh Farm stay strong, and they will keep growing food for the community.
