Gerard Maloney, a cyclist, died in a collision near Moycullen, Galway. He was remembered fondly by the local community.

Gerard was from Bushypark and had six children and nine grandchildren. His wife, Nóirín, passed away in December 2023. He was in his 90s.
His family includes Gráinne, Debbie, and Séamus, Kathleen, Fergal, and Geraldine. His brother Joe lives in Sheffield. He will be missed by many.
Paul, Mark, and Sebastian are his sons-in-law. Geraldine is his daughter-in-law. His grandchildren are Christopher, Eric, Michael, and Hazel. Danny, Róisín, Niall, James, and Eve will also miss him.
A local councilor expressed sadness about Gerard’s death and offered his thoughts to the family during this sad time. Funeral arrangements are now finalized for him.
The funeral will be held at O’ Flaherty Funeral Parlour on Munster Avenue from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Requiem Mass is on Wednesday, February 26, at 11 a.m. St. Joseph’s Church on Presentation Road will host it. A private cremation will follow the mass.

Gerard sustained severe injuries and was quickly taken to UHG. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene to understand the accident.
