Galway mourns John King, father of Castlegar Athletics Club captain, remembered as an exceptional and beloved community member.

His family is heavily involved in local sports and are very important to athletics in Galway. John’s son, Frank, is a club captain leading the Castlegar Athletics Club.
The club gave a loving tribute to John and offered their deepest sympathy to his family. Everyone remembers John fondly, having enjoyed conversations with him.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. People described him as kind and reliable. John was an exceptional person who loved his family very much.
He felt lucky to have such a loving family. A relative said John never wanted fame, only what was best for his children. He was proud of their success.
People are calling John a lovely man, a gentleman, and a neighbor. He was also a great storyteller, and his stories will now be enjoyed by the angels.
John rested at Áras Naofa on February 18th. The funeral mass was at the Holy Family Church, and the burial followed at Rinville Cemetery on February 19th.
