Residents warned after vans with ladders spotted in Galway, offering building services. Gardaí informed of potential bogus traders.

A social media post gave out a warning recently. The post asked people to be careful of these vans, as the people inside might drop local names. They could offer cheap work and want cash upfront. Don’t engage with them; tell the guards.
This follows an earlier red alert after an incident. Residents need to stay alert against bogus traders there. Reports indicate that a white van drove around Dysart and Ballyforan. This happened on Wednesday, February 11.
Two men were in it, wearing high-vis jackets and looked very smart, too. Someone posted about it on social media, reporting that they saw bogus traders in the village Wednesday around 2:50 PM. They reported it to the Gardaí already.
The van had diggers on both sides. It’s smaller than a Hiace but larger than a post van, and its English registration is NU69 with asterisks. Two guys in their 30s, with English accents, asked for the boss, saying a friend told them to call. They sell generators. Beware of them also.
