£7.8m grant fuels Anlaby and Driffield sheltered housing rebuild, improving modern living standards and independent care.

Two places will get new sheltered housing. They are Moat Hill in Anlaby and Deira Court in Driffield. The council plans to spend £25.7m to rebuild both sites to meet good, modern housing standards.
Hobson and Porter, from Hull, won the building contracts. They will demolish and then construct the new homes. A ceremony happened at Moat Hill earlier this month where council people and builders celebrated together.
The new places will have one or two-bedroom flats with open layouts. The homes will adapt to residents’ needs, helping people live independently longer.
A lounge allows people to socialize. Digital telecare connects to the Lifeline service. A council leader said these grants help a lot, ensuring the council can invest in housing.
Homes England wants more affordable homes and supports the East Riding Council. Projects like these build new communities where people can be proud of these homes.
Hobson and Porter are happy to start the Anlaby project. Their business started with local housing projects long ago, and they look forward to seeing the project progress.
The funding comes from the Affordable Homes Programme, which received extra money. To qualify, projects must start by the end of the year, with regeneration and social rent being top priorities.
