Villagers have until March 21st to bid on The Inn at Freshford, a historic pub with “Asset of Community Value” status.

The council knows the inn is a local treasure. It’s even listed as a Grade-II historic site. The main part was built back in 1713. Earlier, it was from the Tudor era. People remodeled it in the 1800s. Some say it’s also haunted.
The village residents have a chance to act. They can bid to purchase the inn. They must express interest by March 21st. The inn has “Asset of Community Value” status. This status lets the community buy it first. This chance comes from the Localism Act 2011.
People love the inn. TripAdvisor reviews are very positive. Around 79% are “Excellent” or “Very Good.” Guests praise the food and friendly service. They also appreciate the pub’s great atmosphere.
To bid, contact Bath and North East Somerset Council. Use email or send a letter before March 21. The address is Connecting Communities, Lewis House, Manvers Street, Bath BA1 1JG.
A valid bid may trigger a pause. This “moratorium” could last until August 7. The residents can raise money during this time. However, the owner can still reject the bid. He does not have to sell to them.
If there is no sale agreed, the owner is free. He can sell the inn on the open market. A sale to someone outside the community could happen. The community’s chance ends after the set time.
