Devonshire Freemasons donate £4,000 to North Devon Hospice, aiding palliative care and supporting local families.

Charlie Yelland, Anthony Eldred, and Alec Collyer visited and handed over a donation certificate. Both Devonshire Freemasons and the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) funded it.
The hospice serves a vast 800,000 square mile area and faces significant money issues, needing £7.1 million yearly. The NHS only provides 24% of their funds, making fundraising critically important.
Stephen Roberts expressed gratitude for the £4,000, emphasizing its critical importance given rising costs. It helps them care for people at an exceptionally tough time.
The support significantly impacts North Devon families, enabling constant medical care for five patients, including two young mothers under 45. They got quality family time without pain, and nurses visited 35 people at home. It also supported an after-school club for children of parents in their care.
Charlie Yelland felt privileged to donate, noting the hospice’s astounding funding needs and the incredibly moving level of care they provide. He shared a sign he saw during his visit that read: people are braver, stronger, and smarter than they think. He feels the hospice is truly special.
A photo captured the donation moment including key individuals from both organizations. This took place in the newly renovated wing.
Charity is very important to Freemasons, and Devonshire Freemasons support the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The MCF relies on Freemason funding and is a large grant-making charity in the UK. They have supported charities for 300 years, also helping schools, homes, and hospitals.
