Plans approved to transform a Tower of London playground into a fort. The revamp prioritizes inclusion and nature.

The current playground is over twelve years old. It needs a lot of work because of its age. It looks out at the Tower of London, but it is a separate area.
The City of London Corporation takes care of it. They asked people about playground designs last year, with people choosing between a dragon, a cityscape, and a fort design.
Over six hundred people responded. Nearly half liked the fort design best. They also wanted a fence and an obstacle course, with a slide also on the list.
The new design focuses on inclusion, safety, and nature. They are also trying to lower maintenance costs. The plans include more plants and things like wheelchair access.
The City boundary goes through the playground site. The fort will sit in Tower Hamlets, so approval from Tower Hamlets Council is needed to proceed.
The project should cost around £250,000. The budget will come from specific funds. Everyone approved the fort design without issue. The upgraded space will improve the visitor experience and aims to be welcoming to everyone.
