A proposal seeks to transform a former sports bar into a 22-bedroom HMO near MKM Stadium after the pub’s 2023 closure.

The building is on Anlaby Road. It used to be The Albert Hotel and Sports Bar. Many sports fans liked this pub. It was close to the MKM Stadium.
The pub shut down in 2023. It had been open for seven years. Financial issues caused the closure. The former owners posted on Facebook about it. They said the climate made it impossible to stay open. Now, developers want to transform the space.
The HMO’s layout plans show three floors. The ground floor will have eight bedrooms. The first floor will have nine. The second floor is planned for five bedrooms.
There will be 14 single rooms. Eight rooms will be for couples. That means up to 30 people could live there.
The site already has a 23-space parking lot. Residents can use these parking spots. There will also be a new bike shelter. It will go behind the building. If approved, they will add trees. This planting will happen in the back. It should make the site look better.
The plans say the outside needs little work. They plan to add new windows. Most changes will happen inside.
The documents address public concerns. The pub closed already. Other pubs are nearby. The change won’t hurt the community.
Hull City Council will review the application now. They will make the final decision.
