A fire broke out in a Paignton flat on Victoria Street. Firefighters extinguished the blaze; all occupants are safe.

Firefighters worked for hours to put it out and are still checking for any lingering hot spots. Everyone got out safely, which is great news. The involved flat suffered fire damage, and eight fire engines showed up to help, along with other resources.
The fire service scaled back the response by 8 AM, and the fire was officially out. However, they are still damping down and checking for hotspots. Police and ambulance services also responded to what turned out to be a very large emergency in the town center.
Six firefighters used breathing gear and water jets to put out the fire. An aerial ladder helped reach the third-floor flat. Crews worked really hard on the whole thing. The fire is now out, and everyone is safe, so businesses can now open normally.
