A five-week-old baby died in Oldham. Police arrested a man and woman on suspicion of child neglect as investigation continues.

Someone reported a concern about a baby’s well-being. The address was on Nelson Way. Paramedics tried to save the baby, but sadly, she was pronounced dead there. She was thought to be only five weeks old.
The man is 41, and the woman is 21. Officers arrested them on suspicion of child neglect, and they took them into custody. Police are still investigating the baby’s death.
Greater Manchester Police officers stayed at the house over Sunday afternoon. A spokesperson gave a statement, saying officers went to Nelson Way around 12:56 p.m. because someone worried about a baby.
Emergency services went to the scene, and paramedics did their best to help the baby. Sadly, she died anyway. The police stated inquiries continue.
