Quiet Fiskerton road residents worry about a large estate near Corn Close potentially bringing 300 new people.
The council delayed approving project plans. Fiskerton has about 1200 residents now. The homes could bring 300 more people. Raymond Crawford and Patricia Clarke are neighbors living next to the field.
They are both worried about the building. Raymond said it’s a quiet lane now, but he expects 150 new neighbors soon. He fears losing his countryside view, adding that 300 cars may use their road daily.
Patricia has lived there for 16 years. Building work will likely cause trouble, but she hopes it will look nice later on. Sue Scott, who lives on Ferry Road, is also near the planned estate.
She thinks the plans are too big for the area. She says Corn Close residents bought homes for peace, but now they face noise from many cars. She also worries about the lack of shops or doctors.
Her main worry is potential flooding. She believes water must go somewhere and ponds might not stop it. Another villager, who wants to remain anonymous, says they have sewer problems.
Her partner in Waddington saw burst pipes, a result of new homes straining the old system. She doesn’t want developers to abandon problems. Meanwhile, a Corn Close man was accepting of the building, stating he thought it would happen someday.
The council will review plans again soon. The Church Commissioners disagreed on school payments. Agreed contributions include money for a doctor’s office, with ninety-five thousand pounds going to Nettleham Medical and fifteen thousand to pay for a new bus stop.
