Leicestershire firefighters rescued Brandy, a horse stuck in a canal. Inflatables and farm machinery aided the dramatic rescue.

Brandy was stuck up to its chin in the water along the Ashby Canal’s edge. Firefighters used inflatables and ropes in the rescue, alongside farm machinery.
Two firefighters approached Brandy in a raft, while another lay on an inflatable platform. They placed straps under the horse, and farm machinery winched him out of the canal.
The Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service shared photos showing Brandy lying on his side. He was later back on his feet and went home safely.
The Fire and Rescue Service posted about the rescue on X, previously called Twitter. The post mentioned using an inflatable path to help get the horse out and noted that farm machinery also aided the process.
Brandy is now safe, and the Fire and Rescue Service provided advice: If you see an animal in trouble, call a rescue service.
