A factory worker died at his Fenham home after taking non-prescribed drugs, despite warnings about the risks.

Stuart lived in Fenham. He died at his home on December 1, 2024. His partner found drugs in early 2024 that were not prescribed to him where he kept his medicine.
Stuart claimed the drugs kept him calm and said a doctor could prescribe them. He also admitted he bought them. His partner found tablets about six times, which caused arguments, and she told him the drugs could kill him.
On December 1, 2024, his partner found tablets littered on the kitchen floor and bench. Stuart seemed intoxicated and could not respond clearly to her.
Stuart’s breathing sounded heavy that evening. He tried to get up to use the toilet but couldn’t stand. He sat on the bed’s edge, then his head fell forward, and he stopped breathing.
His partner called an ambulance and performed CPR while waiting. Paramedics arrived quickly, however, they pronounced Stuart dead at the scene.
Assistant Coroner Kirsten Mercer made a ruling. She stated Stuart died from drug use effects.
