A driver died in a two-car crash near Toft Hill. The accident led to road closures and a police investigation.

Police and ambulance crews went to the scene. The Great North Air Ambulance also responded and sent two ambulances. A paramedic, a duty officer, and a HART crew arrived quickly.
Sadly, the Peugeot driver died at the scene and was pronounced dead there. The other car was a white Kia Ceed, containing a man and woman. They went to the hospital for medical treatment and are now at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
The road closed between Nettlebed Lane and the A68 for an investigation. Investigators examined the scene of the crash, and the road has now reopened to traffic.
Police want to talk to any witnesses who haven’t contacted them. They also want dashcam or CCTV footage, including video of both cars before the crash.

A North East Ambulance Service person said they got a call about the car crash on February 19th at 11:15 am. The location was the B6282 near Toft Hill, in Bishop Auckland, Durham; air ambulance also helped and transported two people to DMH.
