David Webster banned from livestock for 10 years. Cows suffered due to neglect, lack of care and was prosecuted.

Webster, aged 61, lived at Hall Farm in Crakemarsh, Uttoxeter. He admitted to animal welfare crimes, leading to a prosecution by Staffordshire County Council. Their Trading Standards Team handled the case, calling it one of the worst they’d seen.
The North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard the case, revealing welfare problems at Webster’s farm last January. Animals were found in poor condition, with their basic needs unmet.
The court sentenced Webster to a ten-year livestock ban and seventeen weeks suspended jail time, which is suspended for two years. Additionally, he must pay £6,870 in costs.
Victoria Wilson, who oversees Trading Standards and ensures proper livestock care, spoke after the case. She emphasized her team’s role in preventing compromises in animal welfare. She stated the case was very upsetting due to the cows’ unmet basic needs.
While most Staffordshire farmers care for their animals well and follow all the rules properly, sometimes standards are not met, as demonstrated in this case. The court’s decision sends a clear message: they will take action regarding animal welfare and ensure people follow the rules.
