Jimmy Calderwood’s funeral saw a family walkout led by his son, Scott, after a dispute arose. Jimmy, a football manager, died in January at the age of 69, having suffered from dementia. The funeral took place in Glasgow on Tuesday, February 18.

The church service, held at Shiedhall and Drumoyne United Free Church of Scotland, was attended by family, friends, and colleagues. However, Scott walked out at the crematorium in Cardonald following a row with Jimmy’s partner, Yvonne Buchanan.

Scott, 46, explained that his family felt disrespected, claiming the service barely mentioned them. He stated the issue with Yvonne had been growing for years and worsened as his dad’s illness progressed. He stated they couldn’t tolerate the disrespect, feeling erased from Jimmy’s life. Security was present to separate them.

Scott believed his dad wouldn’t have wanted this division and that he couldn’t just watch the funeral and pretend everything was alright. He said he had enough and left, with some family members joining him in the walkout. Scott now wants to grieve his father’s passing. The Record contacted Yvonne Buchanan for her comment.
