CCTV showed Luis walking around Eastgate Retail Park between 3:15 AM and 3:30 AM and he was last seen by the Tesco Extra click and collect. He was walking when last seen. Luis was reported missing at 7:37 AM, prompting police to start a missing person case as his family said it was unusual for him to vanish.
A big search began on March 3 focusing on the area where Luis was last seen. Police, divers, and drones searched, and volunteers also helped look for Luis. Luis’ body was found around 6 PM on Monday when the dive team found him in the River Frome near where he was last seen.
His cause of death is unknown right now, but they will do a post-mortem exam, and a report will be made for the coroner. An inquest will look into his death.
Detective Inspector Pete Walker spoke about the case and said his thoughts are with Luis’ family. He thanked them for their support, as well as the police and partner groups, who helped find Luis.
The investigation began when Luis went missing and police found no suspicious clues, nor did they see any links to other missing person cases. They also ask for family’s privacy as the investigation continues.
Police are aware of online speculation which is harming the grieving family. They want people to stop spreading rumors because the rumors turn their lives upside down. Police are preparing a coroner file to help with the inquest and the inquest will examine how Luis died.
