A family is raising funds to send a son to Disneyland Paris in memory of his late mother, who passed away suddenly.

Hazel lived in East Kilbride and was a loving mother of three kids. Sadly, she died from a brain bleed last February, happening very fast, within hours. She was only 38 years old, leaving behind her children Brooke, Dylan, and Josh.
Her mom, Caroline, is planning a fundraiser at the East Kilbride British Legion this Saturday. The event honors Hazel’s 40th birthday and aims to raise money for East Park School.
Hazel’s youngest son, Josh, has autism and lives at East Park School in Glasgow, which supports children with special needs. The school hopes to visit Disneyland Paris, and Hazel’s family wants to help them achieve this goal.
Caroline spoke about East Park School, emphasizing how important it was to Hazel. They helped Josh a lot, and she would want to fundraise for them. Josh has attended the school since age eight; he couldn’t talk then, but now he does.
The family is amazed by his progress, crediting the school for their great job. Josh has never been on a plane, so the Disneyland trip would be exciting. Her 40th birthday would have been March 4, and the party is to keep her wish alive.
Hazel died unexpectedly on February 17, 2024. Her mom and sister praised her, saying she was bubbly and giving. Amy said Hazel’s death was unexpected and called her generous and outgoing.
Caroline misses Hazel’s phone calls, and Christmas without her was hard; she said the loss is heartbreaking. The family wants to keep Hazel’s memory alive and also wants to help Josh.
Over £1500 has been raised already, and the family asks local businesses to donate raffle prizes. Hazel loved leopard print, Caroline said. Everything at the event will feature it. Family, friends, and others are welcome.
Caroline thanks everyone helping with the event, which starts at 7:30 pm. There is a £5 entry donation.
