A family’s new house from Onward Homes was in disrepair, featuring cracks and mold, causing unexpected hardship.

They expected to move to the new house soon and wanted to paint the walls first. But the new house was in bad shape, and the family was very surprised.
Merseyside Housing helped them, and The ECHO saw the house too. There were huge cracks in ceilings, and the plaster was falling apart. Damp and mould grew on the walls.
Onward said they fixed the house, but the family couldn’t paint or hang things. Mr. Al Aboud can’t find painters because the walls need plastering first.
His wife is pregnant and said standards must exist. She expected to paint and fix the floor, but the walls crumbled when she prepped them.
They still live in Huyton and now pay rent for two houses. The kids take the bus to the new school, and they struggle to pay the bus fare.
They told Onward to fix the house. After the ECHO asked, Onward agreed and promised to repair the house quickly so it will be fit to live in.
Onward said they are very sorry and that repairs start next week. Onward will contact the family often and wants to ensure the family is happy.
