Chris Musgrave will do the Men’s Walk again. It’s his fifth year walking for Hospiscare. He remembers his mother, Jackie, whose death anniversary is near. He wants to help the group raise money, aiming for £1 million.

The walk happens on March 15 at Double Locks in Exeter. It has already raised £935,000 in 13 years, helping patients in Exeter and Devon. Chris started walking in 2020 to honor his mother’s memory, and it’s now a tradition for him.

Chris thinks of his mum when he hears “Hospiscare,” as it will be six years since she died this March. Hospiscare helped his mum, and he wants to support them because they do vital work. He wants people to know this.

Chris says the walk feels special and has a strong community feeling. He knows he helps a great cause. Friends and family support him, either walking or giving money, which creates a true community spirit.

Hospiscare cares for over 2,200 patients each year. Only 15% of their money comes from the government, so they need help from people. They give end-of-life care for free, providing support to patients and families. Wilkinson Grant is the sponsor this year; this is their twelfth year sponsoring.

Chris feels he plays a small but vital role. He enjoys every walk he has done and looks forward to this year’s event. He can raise money for a good cause and wants to keep doing this. He asks others to join too.

Over 1,100 people signed up already, and the event may soon be full.
