Tiverton High School locked down after ex-student and friend trespassed behaving inappropriately. Police searched them.

The Headteacher, James Lamb, talked to parents. He said the pair’s reasons were “unclear.” Police searched them. They found no weapons or drugs.
The pair didn’t listen to staff and were behaving improperly. That caused the lockdown. Police came and searched the two people.
The school is working with police now to prevent this from happening. More police will be around today to reassure everyone.
Lamb explained what happened, stating the former student and friend entered the site. The Headteacher said their motives were unclear then. They weren’t listening to the staff.
Lamb confirmed the police search results, stating that police found no weapons or illegal substances. He will meet with police to avoid a repeat and they asked police to be more visible.
Lamb talked about lockdown procedures normally, explaining that students must follow instructions immediately. There is often no time for lengthy explanations; staff and students must follow the rules.
The school will review the lockdown process and improve where needed. They want to improve communication. Lamb understands everyone’s worry but said the procedure is essential..
Lamb spoke to Year 7 students today. Tutors will discuss procedures too. Staff will check on those affected yesterday and parents should encourage children to talk.
