Mason Lukeman, 23, jailed for animal abuse after Mulla, his dog, was found with severe injuries and denied vet care.

RSPCA officials were shocked by the abuse. Mulla, the dog, had many injuries. A lettings agent rescued Mulla last January after finding the dog locked in the bathroom. The agent quickly took Mulla to a vet.
Mulla had bad cuts on her head and blood near her mouth. Her teats were hanging low, and her tail was also bent badly. Her eyes were gunky and red, and she could barely open one eye.
Mulla was very thin, and you could see her ribs. The vet found injuries from blunt force, and her face was badly swollen, with the right side being worse. Blood-stained saliva dripped from her mouth, and tests found broken teeth and a skull fracture.
Both cheekbones had fractures too. Mulla had old and new injuries. Ribs eight and ten on her right side were broken, and parts of her tail were dislocated, while skin damage matched the trauma.
Her injured eye could not be saved and was later removed by a vet. Lukeman admitted he hurt Mulla, causing her unnecessary suffering. He failed to get her treatment for her injuries and failed to protect her from pain.
Lukeman did not give Mulla enough food and ignored her poor health. A vet expert reviewed Mulla’s case, revealing repeated traumatic events. These caused skin injuries, broken teeth, a hurt eye, skeletal fractures, and tail damage.
Mulla’s head and face injuries came from blunt force, happening on or around January 9th, 2024. Inspector Emma Beynon spoke after the case, stating that Mulla had many severe injuries that spanned her whole body.
“We can’t know everything she endured,” she said. “Old injuries showed repeat abuse. Her injuries tell a heartbreaking story.” The judge commended the lady who rescued her, saying her actions might have saved Mulla.
She helped Mulla get a new home where she now lives a happy life. People shower her with love, and her new name is Hope. The Finsbury Park Animal Hospital helped Hope by nursing her back to health.
Rebecca Yarrow helped with the case, and many people aided in Hope’s rescue. The police also helped greatly. Justice was served for Hope, as such animal abuse is unacceptable, and severe punishment is needed.
