Eryri Village Prepares for Peak Season After Off Season Visit
Many visitors go to the lagoons, which are in Padarn Country Park. This park is next to the lake where the writer’s family had picnics. Kids used to paddle there.
The car park at Y Glyn is now improved and seems bigger now. It used to have potholes, but workers resurfaced it. They added anti-slip mesh.
The parking area has bays, including spaces for motorhomes. Some worried about free camping before. Y Glyn has space for everyone.
A card machine is available, so you do not need change. A short stay costs £2. Kayakers enjoyed the cold water. A cafe near Y Glyn was closed, but it could be open for later visits.
The writer went to the railway. Snowdon Mountain Railway opens March 29. Walking paths up Yr Wyddfa stay open. Trains initially go to Clogwyn Station. Later, trains reach Yr Wyddfa’s summit by October 26.
Llanberis Lake Railway is also nearby. It opened last Sunday, with trains leaving at 11am, 12.15pm, 1.30pm, and 2.40pm. The route runs 2.5 miles and follows the north shore. Tickets cost £11 for adults, £10 for seniors, and £6 for children (ages 3-15).
Visitors come from many places, including the US, China, and Japan. Local people visit too. Sheep grazed in a field nearby; it replaced Electric Mountain. Electric vehicle chargers were added.
Tourists will still visit Llanberis, even without Electric Mountain. Authorities want people to use park and ride buses. This could reduce traffic.
