Planners rejected an HMO application in Erdington after a 400-signature petition and local protests. Community celebrates win.

Locals really opposed the HMO plan on Mason Road. Almost 400 people signed a petition against it, and fifty neighbors even protested the application too.
Paulette Hamilton, the MP, spoke about the issue. She said Erdington already has 180 HMOs and declared that they didn’t want any more of them. The planning office agreed with the community. They said it would hurt the supply of family homes, adding there was no need for more HMOs.
Hamilton stated it was a big win for the community and that the council listened to locals’ concerns. People are tired of growing HMO numbers. Hamilton pointed out that these developments cause problems. She cited things like increased crime and pressure on resources. Petition signers sent a strong message that the community can protect the neighborhood by working together.
