Locals are outraged after Warriston Cemetery remained closed weeks after Storm Eowyn, blocking access to the grounds.

Raymond Morgan thinks it’s very important to locals, saying people are upset they can’t go there now. The council says they will open it when it’s safe again; Storm Eowyn hit hard on January 24.
The storm damaged property, cars, fences, and trees badly. Raymond walks his dog in the cemetery often and suggests they could block off the risky tree area. He thinks closing the whole 14-acre space is too much.
Raymond says it’s a big place, so it seems extreme. Many elderly people go there to talk and relax. Taping off one area would have been okay, as the cemetery is a peaceful place, like the countryside.
Lots of people use it, and residents near Inverleith are very annoyed about the closure. He is extremely frustrated by the situation, yet the Council says the cemetery stays closed for repairs.
The council said they are working hard on tree damage after Eowyn and will reopen the cemeteries when safe. They asked for patience during this important work.
Val Walker said the cemetery stays shut for tree repairs, with access allowed for funerals or grave visits only. The work is taking longer than expected now as the council apologizes and asks for patience.
