Locals protest a large dome covering tennis courts, calling it noisy and visually unappealing after government approval.

Electric fans keep the dome inflated all day and night, and some locals say the noise keeps them awake. The Scottish Government let the club build it, a decision that went against the city council.
A petition asks for changes and soundproofing, with over 460 people signing it. It asks the club to make the dome look better and reduce the noise from the fans. Someone even called the dome “The Toad.”
One resident said the dome ruined their view, and another person said it looks “horrendous.” A man said he is awake every night due to the noise of the fans, and he is frustrated that the area’s history was ignored.
The club’s plan was first rejected by the city, but The Scottish Government later approved it, saying Edinburgh needed more indoor tennis places. A woman said her mom feels vibrations and is sad about the dome’s view.
A local official is frustrated by the decision, saying people’s concerns came true. The government says appeals are a part of planning, and the decision was made by a reporter delegated to the matter.
The Grange Club started in 1832 and has over 650 members who play different sports. The club chair is happy about the dome, saying people can now play tennis all year. They were contacted for comments.
