Edinburgh considers raising resident permit fees by up to 6%. Visitor permits could also see a substantial increase.

The priciest permit could reach £994 yearly. This is for big, polluting cars in central Edinburgh. It means a 6.6% price increase. Small motorbike permits in the center could hit £91.70. That marks a 3.62% increase.
A large vehicle permit outside the center could cost £458. This also reflects a 6.6% rise. Small motorbikes outside the center might cost £45.40 yearly. They would experience a 3.65% increase.
Diesel vehicle permit registration may rise too. Currently, it costs £60 per year. It could increase to £70, a 16.67% rise. Visitor permit costs are also expected to increase greatly. These permits come in 30-minute blocks.
In the city center, a 30-minute permit could cost £1.49. This means a 12.88% increase. Outside the center, permits could go up to £1.01. It equals a 12.22% jump.
Further from the center, permits might reach £0.92. It’s about a 10.84% increase. The biggest change is for visitor permits in “priority” areas. A half-hour permit may rise 17.39% to about 27 pence.
