Quad bikes cause damage, noise, and safety risks in Edinburgh parks. Action is urged to protect residents & green spaces.

Marie-Clair Munro is a Conservative councillor representing the Morningside area. Munro wanted to discuss the problem urgently because quad bikes cause damage and noise, creating a safety risk to people.
The committee leader postponed the discussion until next month, which frustrates Munro as she thinks the issue is very important. Munro said ignoring the issue won’t help and that she will keep pushing for solutions to create safer streets and green spaces. The delay frustrated her greatly.
Daniel Johnson MSP, a Scottish Parliament member from the same party, already mentioned the issue. Munro thinks local action is needed too, as they can directly address the issue locally faster.

Hutchison Vale had to cancel matches when quad bikers damaged their football pitch in Saughton. Munro’s proposal involved joint action where Police Scotland, the council, and local groups would work together. The plan also mentioned legislative changes as they want better reporting and stronger penalties.
Munro spoke to Police Scotland reps at the meeting and suggested using drones to track quad bikes. Police reps said they are considering new measures. Munro feels this is a good start, however, strong enforcement is crucial for protecting spaces.
