Edinburgh’s North Bridge will partially close for six weeks starting February 17 for essential road resurfacing and repairs.

Traffic can only go south during this time, meaning travel from Princes Street toward South Bridge will be affected. They need to resurface the road, impacting both the bridge’s entrance and exit.
The City of Edinburgh Council shared details online. The North Bridge work improves many things. They are fixing the bridge’s outside iron parts, and workers are also repainting the steel structure, which involves cleaning it first.
Footpaths are getting fixed, too, and they are improving drainage beneath. The council hopes repairs finish this year, with these extensive repairs aiming for completion by year’s end.
Councillor Stephen Jenkinson commented on the closure. He understands it will cause problems and thanked people for their patience. These works restore the bridge’s original beauty now, protecting it for the future, too.
