TikTok channel labels Edinburgh areas “dodgy,” sparking debate. Residents defend their communities’ true character.

Moredun is on the list, labeled “dodgy” by the TikTok account @Edinburghdaily. It’s a working-class place with high-rise buildings. While some incidents happened there years ago, many Edinburgh folks are proud to call it home, making the area’s reputation misleading.
Clermiston is next. Once known in the 80s/90s as “the Jungle,” it’s now more middle class. You might find quinoa, not weapons. While the park sees some reckless driving sometimes, Cleri is mainly a quiet place to live.
Oxgangs also gets a mention, with the TikTok video hinting it’s really “dodgy.” But Oxgangs is a close community where families have lived across generations. The only “dodgy” thing might be the Soviet-style high-rises, which some find ugly.
Pilton surprisingly made the list as well. The list’s makers seem unaware that Pilton has a lively cultural scene instead. North Edinburgh Arts is a beloved hub. Pilton faces issues like reckless driving too, but its working-class folks are very proud.
Finally, Muirhouse is on the list. With sea views and tall towers, Muirhouse should be known for charity. Groups like Low Income Families Together exist here, reflecting a giving and loyal community that always cares for each other.
