A derelict Edinburgh mews building on Montgomery Street Lane will be knocked down to make way for modern short term holiday rentals.

The plan involves knocking down the two-story structure and building new short-term rentals in its place. There would be two apartments, each with two bedrooms, one on each floor.
The owner says the building needs to come down because a survey proved it needs to be demolished. This narrow lane has similar buildings all around it, often used as businesses or storage areas.
They want to reuse materials from the old building and will also get new stone when needed. The building will then have two short-term rental units.
The plans say no yard space makes it bad for homes; nearby buildings are mostly used for business. The applicant thinks the rentals will be great for visitors and believes it won’t bother neighbors, providing good accommodation for people staying there.
