George Baigrie got 15 years for a machete assault on Dale Richardson in an Edinburgh Tesco, fueled by gang tensions.

The attack occurred in Edinburgh. Baigrie got 15 years in jail for the crime. He will be watched for five years after release. This supervision aims to prevent more violence.
The judge, Lord Young, called it a gangland issue. He considered Baigrie a high risk for violence. Baigrie had a past attempted murder conviction. It occurred back in 2003.
Shoppers saw Baigrie chasing Richardson while he wielded the machete in the store. The attack took place in the evening. People of all ages were present.
Baigrie sliced Richardson’s arm badly, and Richardson escaped, but was seriously hurt. The event shocked staff and nearby shoppers. Emergency services quickly arrived.
Richardson, age 35, went to the hospital fast. He needed a ten-hour operation later. His wrist suffered serious damage during the attack. Nerves, tendons, and an artery got cut. Without help, Richardson could have bled to death.
Police visited Baigrie that day earlier. They warned him about threats to his own safety. He then attacked Dale Richardson.
Kevin Richardson, age 24, helped Baigrie. He was the getaway driver during that incident. He got six years for his role in the crime event. The judge called it a planned attack.
Police found machetes at Baigrie’s house after this. They discovered blood-covered trainers too. This blood matched the person he attacked previously. Baigrie said they weren’t his trainers.
Baigrie claimed he used the machetes for hunting. He claimed the attack was committed by someone else. Baigrie’s name came up in another court case involving the murder of Bradley Welsh.
