Steven MacGowan, an Edinburgh resident, is remembered for his courage battling pancreatic cancer. He surpassed doctors initial prognosis.

Steven learned about his illness last year. Doctors initially estimated he had months to live. His wife, Georgina, described him as brave, adding that he fought hard until the very end. Georgina expressed her wish that they had been granted more time together.
Georgina shared her feelings of loss with Edinburgh Live. She described Steven as incredible and fun-loving, highlighting his ability to make people laugh and always find something to smile about. His loss leaves a big hole in their lives, and she feels empty without him.
Georgina remembers Steven as a true gentleman, and admired his strength during his illness. Steven had many hobbies and worked for Scottish Gas Energy. He enjoyed spending time fishing and playing ice hockey for the Livingston Rams. He also loved taking Turkish vacations with his family.
Georgina and Steven met 15 years ago and were planning to celebrate their anniversary in May. Steven was well-loved in his community and knew many people. Georgina met him at a Scotmid store. He complimented her tattoo, which displayed her children’s names.
Georgina noted that May 6 would have marked their second wedding anniversary. She described Steven as a true fighter, standing six-foot-four and strong. He always helped others and was never afraid to lend a hand.
St Columbus and Marie Curie provided incredible care and support. Georgina said they felt like they became his friends. They supported him to the very end and even checked on Georgina afterward.
Steven is survived by his wife, Georgina, and his children, Melissa, Cameron, and Emma. His siblings, Jacob, Sharon, and Maxine, also survive him. His parents, Nessie and Archie, will grieve him, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved.
