Council to decide on Social Bite’s new village with homes after site visit and a decision hearing.

Josh Littlejohn founded Social Bite and hopes they can visit the site. He thinks the plans will then get support as they have worked with the council for two years and found this plot as the best choice.
Residents want the new site nearby. Social Bite’s village is near Granton Castle now since the council donated the land, but the lease has ended. The new site is east of Gipsy Brae, and the council also owns this land.
The site has views of the Forth and you can see the Forth Bridges. Trees surround it on two sides. The village would get bigger after the move, as they plan seven new single-bed homes and will build a hub with showers, kitchens, and laundry.
The village would house sixteen people total, which has helped over one hundred before since Social Bite began this project in 2018. Allotments match the current setup, so residents can garden there.
People use this land as the recreation ground, and travelling groups also use it sometimes. Social Bite started back in 2012, and they give meals to the homeless while also raising funds for them. The council did not set dates for a hearing yet.
