Flights were briefly held at Edinburgh Airport after a drone entered a restricted area on Wednesday morning.

Police got involved, following procedure. This happens when someone breaches the zone. The drone didn’t enter the airfield and it also didn’t fly above the runway. That’s what Edinburgh Live reported, anyway.
Flying a drone there is quite serious. You could face jail time, up to five years, and an unlimited fine is also possible. The CAA warns about drone dangers and advises you stay away from the 5km zone that surrounds airports and airfields.
Many spots have a flight restriction zone, called FRZ for short. Flying there is prohibited unless you have permission beforehand, which you must obtain before you fly near.
An airport spokesperson commented on it. They held arriving flights due to the drone, and police investigated the incident thoroughly. Drone pilots must know their responsibilities, including restriction zones and the penalties that exist if you fail here. Passenger and staff safety is crucial.
Police Scotland has been asked for comment. Our sister title is handling that part.
