Elmya Energy seeks feedback on a battery storage system near Melbourne Village, aiming to boost green energy use.

Elmya Energy wants to build a battery system southeast of the village, about 600m away. The system could store lots of energy, like 300MW!
It would store extra green energy from sources like solar farms and wind turbines! It would also send energy to the National Grid. This helps when the sun isn’t out or when the wind stops, and when energy use is highest.
Elmya Energy is working with Renewable Power Capital. The project could power around 160,000 homes and help with local climate goals. It strengthens national energy security.
Ed Miliband talked about energy security in Hull, stating that renewable energy benefits everyone, helping both the planet and current communities. James Innes spoke about the East Yorkshire project, expressing his desire to decarbonize and boost energy security.
He wants feedback from locals to ensure the plan reflects their needs and brings them real benefits. The consultation lasts three weeks, starting February 11 and ending March 4. People can share feedback online by visiting their website to learn more.
There’s also an in-person event on February 27, from 2 PM to 7 PM at Melbourne Village Hall. You can ask questions there, or email them for more information.
