Councillor Henderson secures £150k for East Riding youth projects; part of the 2025/26 council budget.

Council tax will increase by 4.99%. The council plans to cut 400 jobs too. Nigel Wilkinson called the budget “growth, innovation” and mentioned “operational excellence.”
Thirty-seven councillors voted for the budget, while five voted against it, and sixteen abstained. Conservatives, Independents, and Yorkshire Party backed it. Labour, Lib Dems, and Reform UK opposed it. Denis Healy called the budget “untenable.”
Henderson represents Minster and Woodmansey. He is also a trustee at Beverley Cherry Tree Centre. The charity’s youth club lacked funds, but they got permission for a new site and needed £75,000 for the new youth club.
Henderson secured £150,000 for youth programs, covering all of East Riding. He hopes this helps young people learn important life skills.
Henderson supports young people in his NHS job, helping those with mental health issues. Youth clubs teach emotional resilience and help kids interact without parents.
He wrote a youth provision proposal, and Councillors Needham and Corless supported him. Healy presented it at a leadership meeting, and the leader approved the £150,000.
