Regional Heart, Smooth, and Capital East Midlands shows end, moving to national programming from London affecting local radio.

Smooth’s regional breakfast shows are ending, along with Capital and Heart drive shows. This started on Monday, February 24, and many radio jobs are getting cut.
Regional offices and studios are closing across England. About 20 regional radio programs are affected.
Gareth Evans hosted Smooth East Midlands Breakfast. Friday, February 21 was his last day. He shared messages about leaving on X, formerly Twitter. One message wished him fun on his final show.
Global’s Nottingham offices are on Maid Marian Way. Ashley Tabor-King founded the company. He said they’re entering a growth phase and will have national drive shows for Heart and Capital. Smooth will have a national breakfast show.
They will focus on a national programming strategy. This strategy uses national brands delivered locally. They aim to give the best content. Local news, travel, and weather will still be available for listeners and advertisers too.
