A man in East Lothian is raising money to build a memorial garden. This garden honors James Martin, a Scottish actor who passed away in February. He was 93 years old.

He played Eric in “Still Game” and lived in Musselburgh. Locals want to honor James, and they plan to build a garden at The Hollies Community Hub. This center fights loneliness, and James often went there.

David McKay is organizing the garden as a local garden designer. David knows Martin’s legacy, though he never met the actor. He has helped Hollies before, noting that James was popular there. He often told stories to other elderly people.

David got the idea after James passed and now helps with the fundraising. The Hollies’ funding is decreasing, and David likes to help people. He designed a garden with herbs, vegetables, and flowers.

The hub is by the River Esk, where people can chat. It’s a legacy, David said. James Martin helped charities, served as a fireman, worked for Poppy Scotland, and helped The Hollies in Musselburgh.
