Shop owner yells ‘excuse me’ after catching group on camera at Day-Today in Tranent. Shoplifting is an ongoing issue.

CCTV caught three young people stealing there: two girls and one boy. One girl grabbed a vape from a display and quickly put it in her pocket. The shop owner noticed the theft happening and yelled, “Excuse me!” The thieves then ran out of the shop quickly.
Manish Kumar owns the shop and has been there for six years. He says theft happens often at his store and he needs extra staff to watch for thieves. He said the thieves are usually young, maybe 12 or 13, and this has happened before with other young kids.
His shop was targeted last December too, when some youths stole vapes twice that week. They wore balaclavas and scared the staff. After the newest theft, Manish asked for help online, hoping someone knows the thieves.
He said CCTV caught their faces clearly and he reported everything to the police already. Any info about them would really help him. If you know anything, call Police Scotland at 101, using incident number 1421, February 9, 2025.
The police said they know about the theft and received the report on Sunday, February 9, 2025. They stated that their investigation is moving forward.
