Investigation into the death of an East Lothian couple in France has stalled and been transferred to a larger division.

A neighbor got worried and checked on them. They always walked their dog in the morning. Dawn was 56 and Andrew was 62.
Dawn was outside, partly undressed, and had skull injuries. Someone used a blunt and sharp object, but police found no sign of sexual assault nor the weapon used.
Andrew was found inside, hanging from a radiator. He had no defensive injuries, police noted.
The house was messy, like someone searched it. But money and jewelry were untouched, as money wasn’t stolen from the bedroom and jewelry sat by Dawn’s body.
The local prosecutor handed the case off to a bigger division in Montpellier. Dawn also went by Dawn Kerr, and police are calling it “intentional homicide.” Dawn grew up in Eyemouth, while Andrew was from England. Before France, they lived in Musselburgh and married there in 2023.
Detectives are looking at all possibilities, including domestic violence then suicide, or whether someone else got involved. They opened a homicide investigation, and both had adult kids.
Andrew used to work in finance for Standard Life and Barclays. Some speculate his job could be related, suggesting someone was after him.
Another idea is murder-suicide, potentially caused by financial trouble. However, some locals disagree, with a neighbor stating they seemed happy.
Dawn booked a chimney sweep for April the day before she died. Andrew bought lottery tickets and a chocolate bar that day, captured on video by a security camera.
