Hallsville Tavern in Newham could be demolished for a six-story block with flats and shop space. Council vote next week.

The pub on Hallsville Road shut down in 2012. It was a restaurant, then a rental venue. Newham Council could approve the demolition soon, and that vote happens next week, on February 24.
The new building would contain various flat sizes. There would be nine one-bedroom flats, four flats with two bedrooms, and five flats with three bedrooms. They will also include bike parking and trash storage.
Two flats will be for social rent, while the rest will be private rentals. They don’t know what the commercial space will become, but they asked neighbors about the building plans.
They mailed 308 letters to nearby properties. Two people objected to the plans, and concerns included parking, privacy, and construction noise.
Years ago, they rejected similar plans in 2008. Back then, they wanted six flats and three shops. The pub was considered locally important, and cycle storage was inadequate previously as well.
Now, officers think these plans are okay. The pub hasn’t been a pub for thirteen years, and no one objected to losing the old building. Red and cream bricks will create the new building’s facade, and metalwork will match the brick colors perfectly. The council might approve it next week.
