Bó Burger in East Cork is charming diners with unique decor and locally sourced ingredients after a warm welcome.

Bó Burger opened last Wednesday in Midleton and is already popular. The menu has burgers, tapas, and sharing boards at mid-range prices. They source their supplies from local shops.
Inside, booths and a bar create a welcoming space. Local people donated charming decorations, making the feel truly special. The restaurant has been full every night since opening.
A local church provided old pew benches, each bearing a cross. The bar counter uses wood from that same church, adding a touch of history and charm to the establishment.
Donations include a unique angel-wing lamp and Jameson bottles from the local distillery. Cushions were creatively made from coffee bean sacks, provided by Mahers Pure Coffee in Cork.
David and Fionnuala Smiddy own Bó Burger. They also operate Pan, a popular brunch spot in Midleton. Pawel is the head chef, with Matthew Stafford also contributing his culinary skills.
Matthew commented on their first week, expressing happiness with the level of service. The team worked hard over the busy weekend, and the customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Matthew mentioned that hitting the mark was a initial concern. However, David and Fionnuala’s experience with Pan, which has thrived for seven years, gives them confidence in their ability to satisfy customers.
Bó Burger emphasizes local sourcing practices, benefiting from the proximity of high-quality suppliers. They believe it’s also important to support local businesses, creating a mutually beneficial ecosystem.
Bó Burger is a welcome addition to the East Cork dining scene, especially considering the recent closures of nearby establishments. Sage and La Trattoria both shut down over summer 2024.
Roastie closed right before Christmas, and Midleton also lost Pizzeria San Marco earlier this year. This makes the opening of Bó Burger even more significant for the local community.
Cush restaurant, an award-winning establishment, will soon relocate to Midleton, occupying the former Sage building. The Ballycotton guesthouse will remain open at its current location.
