Government offers grants up to €70,000 for renovating vacant properties and derelict buildings. Applications are now open!

You might get €50,000 for a vacant property, while derelict properties could receive €70,000. Island residents may get more money. There’s extra support for farmhouse conservation too.
The Housing Department funds this via the Croí Cónaithe Fund. Apply at your local authority office. The property must be vacant for two years before you apply for the money.
You cannot purposely leave it vacant to get it. The building must be built before 2008; it was 1993 previously. You must own or be buying the property. Live there, or rent it out after work.
Renters must register with the RTB. You must have tax clearance from Revenue; your taxes must be properly sorted. You must pay your Local Property Tax, if needed.
Companies or developers cannot apply. You can only get the grant two times: once to live in the property and once to rent it out. You could get up to €50,000 for renovations.
Derelict properties can get up to €70,000 total, including the VAT cost of the work completed. The grant increased on May 1, 2023. If you applied before, the new rates apply. Island residents get up to €84,000 funds.
Derelict buildings can get this total amount. Vacant properties receive €60,000 funds on islands. The general work limits increase by 20% on islands too.
