A house fire, sparked by an e-bike, resulted in a dog’s death and severe burns to a teenager in Newton Heath.

Firefighters arrived fast and spent six hours putting out the fire. Inside the house, a seventeen-year-old teenager got third-degree burns on his leg. He was taken to the hospital.
Sadly, their dog, Kilo, died in the fire. Paramedics checked two other people at the scene. Pictures show terrible damage, with the doorway and a window scorched.
Amber Douglas started a fundraiser because her aunt has lived there for 17 years. The fire destroyed everything they owned, and she wants to help them rebuild their lives. The Douglas family had a tragedy on February 19, 2025, when their house burned.
They lost all their belongings, but Amber is grateful they all got out. The grandson’s leg was badly burned, but thankfully, it is not life-threatening. They also lost their dog, Kilo, and must now rebuild from nothing.
They urgently need support, including a home, clothes, and other basic necessities.
Fire services confirmed the fire and that they received reports of a house fire involving an e-bike. Three fire engines were sent to the scene.
Firefighters used hoses and ladders to put out the fire and checked for gas. Paramedics treated three people, while one person escaped before they arrived. Fire crews were at the scene for six and a half hours.
